Distinguished Online Communications

The Society for Technical Communication ( www.stc.org ) sponsors international competitions allowing technical communicators the opportunity to receive recognition for their work. There are three levels of awards, Distinguished being the highest. For this competition, Distinguished is defined as:

"Clearly superior in all areas. The entry contains no major flaws and few, if any, minor flaws. It applies the principles of technical communications in an outstanding way, particularly in the way that it anticipates and fulfills the needs of its audience."

Bianco Hopkins submitted the Web Based program, Basics of Tobacco Control - Pathway to Change, in the Online Communications category. Of the 20 entries submitted by the STC Atlanta Chapter, only 2 won awards. Online Communication is judged in the context of the entry's stated purpose and audience. Judges evaluate the content, structure, and design of each entry, and determine awards based on the individual entry's strengths and weaknesses and how well it fulfills its purpose.

Basics of Tobacco Control - Pathway to Change is a Web Based training program developed for the Tobacco Technical Assistance Consortium ( www.ttac.org/products/index.html ), an independent non-profit organization that provides support services to tobacco control organizations. TTAC provided a general outline, subject matter expertise, citations, videos, audio, and photographs. Bianco Hopkins delivered the prototype, storyboards, graphics, programming, and quality assurance.

Bianco Hopkins & Associates is very proud to receive this award and have our commitment to quality publicly recognized.
